Degassing Station
Degassing Station
The Degassing Station removes dissolved gas from running buffer before it enters the fluidic system. Buffer that has not been degassed releases microbubbles when it warms to room temperature or when pressure changes across the flow path. On the sensor chip these bubbles cause erratic flow, signal spikes, intermittent loss of signal and elevated baseline noise.
The station is supplied as a matched, ready-to-use bench setup. The pump chemistry, the vacuum level, the tubing bore and the stirrer are selected for aqueous running buffers.
Scope of delivery
- 1x oil-free diaphragm vacuum pump
- 1x magnetic stirrer, 170 mm plate
- 1x magnetic stir bar
- 2x GL45 screw lids with ports for tubing, for the buffer bottle and the trap bottle
- Tubing and fittings
Bottles are not included. The lids fit any standard GL45 laboratory glass bottle, which the customer supplies: one buffer bottle placed on the magnetic stirrer, one trap bottle between the buffer bottle and the pump.
Vacuum pump
| Flow rate at atmospheric pressure: | 5.5 L/min |
| Ultimate vacuum: | 160 mbar abs. |
| Operating pressure: | 2.5 bar |
| Pump head: | PPS |
| Diaphragm: | PTFE-coated |
| Valves: | FFPM |
| Mains: | 230 V / 50 Hz |
| Power: | 60 W |
| Weight: | 1.9 kg |
| Hose connection: | ID 4 mm |
| Permissible media and ambient temperature: | +5 to +40 °C |
Transfer is 100 % oil-free, so no oil mist can reach the buffer. The PTFE-coated diaphragm and FFPM valves withstand aggressive and corrosive vapours.
Magnetic stirrer
| Plate diameter: | 170 mm (4 L capacity) |
| Speed range: | 150 to 2500 rpm, analog control |
| Motor: | Brushless DC, generates no heat |
| Heating: | None. Stirring only |
| Top and body: | Chemical-resistant polypropylene |
| Mains: | 100 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz |
The stirrer does not heat, which is what buffer degassing requires.
Mains voltage note. The stirrer accepts 100 to 240 V, but the pump is a 230 V / 50 Hz unit. Other pump voltages and frequencies are available on request. Confirm the destination mains supply before shipping outside 230 V / 50 Hz territory.
